Job Summary

As an Information Receptionist (OA), you will play a vital role in supporting the operations of the United States Attorney’s Office. This position is essential in maintaining seamless communication, ensuring office supplies are managed, and facilitating administrative duties that contribute to the overall efficiency of the office.


Key Responsibilities

  • Visitor and Call Management:
    • Answer and route telephone calls; greet and assist visitors.
    • Provide general information about office programs and procedures.
  • Clerical Support:
    • Handle incoming and outgoing mail; ensure timely distribution.
    • Produce documents using advanced word processing software.
  • Office Maintenance:
    • Monitor and maintain adequate levels of office supplies.
    • Coordinate the repair of office equipment.
  • Collaboration and Support:
    • Assist team members with administrative tasks and office projects.
    • Ensure documentation is accurate and secure.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

Basic Requirements

  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Typing Speed: Minimum of 40 words per minute with no more than three errors in a 5-minute test (may be tested).

Specialized Experience (GS-5 level):

  • One year of experience equivalent to GS-4 in the federal service performing administrative duties, such as:
    • Handling calls and visitors.
    • Drafting and editing documents using office software.
    • Maintaining office files and schedules.
    • Responding to inquiries with general office information.

OR

  • A bachelor’s degree (or 4 years of higher education) from an accredited institution.

OR

  • A combination of education and experience (details below).

Education

  • Education beyond high school can substitute for experience (e.g., 30 semester hours = 6 months of experience).
  • Foreign education must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.

Other Requirements

  • Must pass pre-employment background checks, including fingerprinting and drug testing.
  • Registration for Selective Service (if applicable).
